One of the Roman encampments outside Masada. You can't tell the scale here but that is HUGE!
Inside Herod's sauna bath at Masada. The sauna was where you went after you were exhausted by the eating and orgies. The synagogue is only a short distance away.
This is the ramp that the Romans built using Jewish slaves up to the door of Masada. They had to fill in the entire valley to make this path. It took a very long time.
Now it's just the birds and the gerbils that live here at Masada.
These are the Ibex that En Gedi are named for. We were quite surprised to see them out in the hot of the day. Notice how they easily clamber across the the literally vertical cliff face with no problem.
Setting up in the desert for an opera of all things! I can't imagine the cost of the tickets for an event like that!?!
